Mad Skills Yo

You know it's true - chicks dig guys with skills: numchuck skills, computer hacking skills....

Ok, I'll drop the Napoleon reference - but I was thinking about my skills the other day and I came to an interesting conclusion.

I am skilled by association. I am a skill amoeba!!!

I hang out with people with mad skills, and then join in their activities, and I then look like I have mad skills.

For instance - do you know how many road trips I've gone on and I just happen to be fortunate that my friend is a fantastic navigator and knows how to drive if we actually hit a city? I'm a horrible navigator and my driving skills are well... I've never had an accident, but I think God has been gracious.

Or do you know how many hundreds of times I've gone camping, but I can probably count on one hand how many fires I've actually started or tents I've actually put up. I'll be the person holding the tent pole on the other side white my actual skilled friend directs the operation. I'm the person hauling the wood while my actual skilled friend chops wood and gets the fire roaring.

I'll go traveling to countries where no one speaks English, but I can always find the person who has the language skills and then hook up with them and then suddenly I get to go on a more "genuine trip" because I have the inside scoop and can go off the beaten path and hang out with the locals.

I've gone watersking, wake boarding, ice skating, rollerblading, mountain biking, ski diving, snow boarding, snow skiing, rock climbing, hiking in remote places, and the list goes on.

But do I actually have any of these skills - no not really - not on any significant level.

I sky dived TANDEM for goodness sake - the dude I was strapped to had the skills and I went along for the ride.

So I've come to the conclusion that my greatest skill is to create relationships with people with skills.

It's not really a complete amoeba relationship because usually I make pretty good company and also I usually coordinate the event in which the skill can take place. And I'm not using that person because I am actually usually freinds with the person with skills and would like them even if they didn't have mad skills.

So I have coordinating skills.

So those are my mad skills - I have the skill of creating relationship with people with skills and I have the skill of coordinating forums in which those skills can happen.

The picture above is of me hiking in Canmore yesterday with a group of friends with skills. They didn't make it into the picture.

  • So, skill amoeba girl, since you have no skillz I guess it's someone else who produces those great photos and art then?

  • Hey there Kendra
You are an extremely talented person, sometimes I wish I had half the skills you have but God gifted you with just the right amount of stuff and then we get to benefit from each other's talents.
    Blessings
    Your cousin in Sask.
