Pealr Parties/Staff Parties
Wednesday and Thursday.
Wednesday was spent mostly driving around and doing errands. More faxing of resumes, buying Kyla and my plane ticket. Bringing people pearls. Picking up stuff for my parents. Picking up cheques for pearls. and returning 10 "Mendel expansion" pins that I was supposed to wear on my tours but kept loosing in my room and therefore kept collecting.
It was a hot sweaty run around in my non air-conditioned car. My hula girl had a melt down so I'll have to take her to London Drugs and get her exchanged. It wasn't meant to be. First her skirt melted off a week ago.
(It's never good to have a naked hula girl on your dash board - you can't see any privates though, she has a spring where most people would normally have their privates - I think that this must make it very hard for her to reproduce )
Anyhow, then her torso melted off the spring and legs. Then the spring and legs melted off my dashboard.... Ahh, nothing like the death of a dashboard hula girl to add to the pressures of one's day
So.... yeah.... then in the evening I went all the way to Rosthern and had a pearl party. Aunt Joyce put it on, so almost all of Rosthern was there. It was a pretty good evening of sales, and I have to admit, I'm sounding like quite the cheesy little sales woman. I can't help it, though, really, in my head I'm pretty convinced that every woman needs most of my pearls for the sake of mere survival.
Frank and Darlene were there and that was great because they are just great.
I spent the night at Joyce's , went and did another pearl drop off at the Station Arts, came home, and then almost immediately went to the Mendel staff party.
We were supposed to go horse back riding, but it was raining out where we were supposed to go, so we went hiking at Beaver Creek and then we went to Amigos and ate, drank, and played pool.
(That was just program guide staff) Then we met the rest of the Mendel staff at Fuddruckers and ate more. I ordered a dessert and a coffee, except the dessert was HUGE. It was like 10 pounds of chocolate brownie and icecream and fudge and whip-cream. So I couldn't finish it, but Laird and Jocelyn and Heather and Bill were there, so I donated it to them and their kids.
Then we played mini golf which was really fun. It reminded of mini golfing with Jeremy when I ran straight into the windmill mill. Yeah, not my ball, my head. Who does that? Another good reason why I shouldn't go on dates with guys I don't know quite well. So at least he still accepted me after that.
Then after that we went to Adele's for the evening and we stayed until 12:30 playing cranium. It was hilarious. Seriously, artists are hilarious. Every drawing had to be analyzed and everyone was always encouraging everyone and I don't even know how to explain it, but it was just VERY FUNNY and no one was drunk. I've never been at a staff party where at least a few people don't get smashingly drunk.
So yeah - very fun day actually.
