Shut Up! Cuz God is in his Holy Temple
So, I'm moving again and life is in its lovely chaos again and I'm getting so good at this that I havn't even freaked out yet. But you know how it is when there is no schedule and life has no order - the whole devos suffers.
Well I was talking to Karla last night and she had it pounded in her heart during Breakforth that if she wants to be an old Godly woman she needs to read her Bible more. So it sort of reminded me too.
So today I decided - I'm going to read Habbukuk. Why? Well to be quite honest it's because I thought it was the book of the Bible where that guy marries the prostitute, but that's Hosea. Wrong prophet.
Well, anyhow, I was blown away how relevent it was. BLOWN AWAY. Do you ever just watch the news and cry? I do all the time.
And then I fantasize about how I'm going save and love all the prostitutes in the world and all the children who were abused and all the children kidnapped for child armies and all the children sold into prostitution and all the mothers and children raped.
And then I actually get so exhausted with my own fantasy and I realize it's a fantasy I'm sad and angry and frustrated because I feel hopeless and powerless and no matter how anxious I decide to feel, 20% of the world still will consume 80% of the world's resources tomorrow, and the white fat buisnessman in Cambodia will still solicit the services of a child prostititute.
And that's what the first two chapters of Habbukuk is all about. A man totally frustrated with the injustice of the world and with evil people and sad about hurt people.
Then God responds and says simmer down - all will pay.
Shut up! I am in my temple and I will take care of all of the below.
1. The arrogant rich who believe their wealth is their God
2. The nations who plunder other nation's wealth will be plundered back ( hmmm, that would be us North America!)
3. The people who live recklessly by plundering and looting will crumble
4. The cities built on crime will fall
5. Hedonistic drunken partier nymphos
6. People who make up their own religion to suit themselves
And we may point fingers, but as North Americans I think we are all responsible for the 80/20 factor that would be covered in #2 and I think we all live a bit hedonistically and we all like to change our faith for our own convienience at times.
But when we are overwhelmed and think God doesn't care and think that the world can't be fixed, it's great that we can be reminded to Shut up! GOD IS in his holy temple.
